The Supreme Education Scholarship Committee strives to recognize and financially incentivize the academic achievement, community involvement and participation in church auxiliaries for members from the Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army to encourage self-growth and continue in service to their families, their church and their communities.
The Supreme Scholarship Committee, originally named the Israel Education Committee, was created in 1969. Original committee members were Archbishop Martin Tumpkin, Elder Jordan C. Wiley, Sister Ida Mae Wiley, Bishop Bride Mother Rose Alice, Mother Ophelia B Johnson, Mother Mary Harmon, Mother Joyce Stephens, and Mother Delaphene Mills.
Initially, only two scholarships were awarded. Most prestigious was the Three Kings Mark of Excellence Award which recognized the student with the highest grade point average and most college acceptances. However due to the increasing number of eligible students, Rev. Esther Callaway developed an application process to systematically review materials. Additional awards were offered to graduates as Adult Enrichment Awards.
The Supreme Education Scholarship committee continues to recognize completion of secondary and post-secondary studies, and incentivize continued growth, by honoring graduates of the Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army for their diligent effort.
